Marijuana: A Closer Look

June 7 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

This is an information session revolving around the view of marijuana from an evidence-based approach in relation to ailments.

The training’s presenter, Arpana Agrawal, PhD, is Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Washington University School of Medicine. She receives support from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) to study the genetic and environmental factors that contribute to progression from cannabis use to use disorders, as well as how other substance use and psychiatric illness interface with emergence of cannabis use disorder. Arpana uses a variety of neurobiological approaches to examine risk and resilience, although her particular interests lie in teasing apart predisposing factors (such as genetic liability) from those that might be the consequence of prolonged substance use (i.e., causal outcomes). She has published over 250 peer-reviewed articles and, in 2018, was the recipient of the International Society of Psychiatric Genetics’ Theodore Reich Award for Early Career Contributions to the field.
