NCADA's Prevention First programs have a track record of reducing young people’s involvement with alcohol, other drugs and violence.
These best practices programs, designed for students, K-12, are experiential, interactive and led by highly trained and experienced facilitators. All Prevention First programs are evaluated, and results demonstrate strong outcomes.
Prevention First programs include the following research-based principles:
-
Resiliency Skills Development - builds skills that underlie healthy decisions and low-risk choices
-
Peer Leadership Programming - involves teens and pre-teens in teaching and helping younger students and peers
-
Success Support - provides community service activities, tutoring and small-group instruction to increase opportunities for personal and academic success
NCADA also offers workshops for teachers and parents and provides free assessment and referral services for adolescents, age 19 and under.
